Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is an advanced surgical procedure that aims to rebuild the breasts after their amputation, most often associated with breast cancer treatment. For many women, this is a key stage in the process of returning to normal after cancer. Breast reconstruction not only restores a natural appearance, but also helps regain self-confidence and improves the quality of life.

How is breast reconstruction performed?
Breast reconstruction can be performed using various methods, depending on the individual needs of the patient and her health. There are two main approaches to breast reconstruction:

Reconstruction using implants - most often involves the implantation of silicone implants that are intended to rebuild the volume of the breasts.

Reconstruction using your own tissue - involves transplanting fat, skin and muscle from other parts of the body, such as the abdomen, back or buttocks, to achieve a natural breast shape.
Breast reconstruction can be performed at the same time as a mastectomy (immediate reconstruction), or some time after the completion of oncological treatment (delayed reconstruction).

Recovery
After breast reconstruction surgery, the patient usually spends several days in hospital under medical care. During the recovery period, swelling, pain, and bruising may occur, which usually subside within a few days or weeks. The patient will need to wear a specialist support bra to help keep the implants or transplanted tissue in the right position. It is important to avoid intense physical exertion for several weeks and to have your health checked regularly.

Why is it worth deciding on breast reconstruction?
Breast reconstruction is not only an aesthetic procedure, but also a psychological one. For many women, breast reconstruction is a key stage in returning to balance after breast cancer treatment. The procedure allows for the recovery of full body symmetry, which contributes to improved self-esteem and a sense of femininity. In addition, breast reconstruction allows for a return to a normal sexual and physical life, which is of great importance in the psychological process of cancer treatment.

Breast reconstruction costs from PLN 10,000
