Blepharoplasty – Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the eyelids. The skin around the eyes is extremely thin and delicate, making it the first area to show signs of aging. Over time, the skin of the eyelids loses its elasticity, leading to sagging eyelids, the formation of bags under the eyes, and deep wrinkles. These changes can make the face appear tired or sad, and in some cases, they can affect peripheral vision.

Upper Eyelid Correction

Upper eyelid surgery involves the removal of excess, sagging skin and fatty tissue, resulting in a more open and youthful appearance. The incision is made in the natural folds of the eyelid, which helps minimize visible scarring. This procedure not only enhances the aesthetics of the face but also improves vision if the excess skin obstructs the field of view.

Lower Eyelid Correction

Lower eyelid surgery focuses on eliminating under-eye bags and smoothing out wrinkles. In some cases, the surgeon may reposition fat tissue to areas where it is deficient, improving facial contours and eliminating the so-called "tear trough" deformity. The incision is made below the lower lash line, again reducing the visibility of scarring.

Both procedures can significantly transform the appearance of the face, restoring a youthful radiance and improving overall mental well-being.

Procedure Overview

Eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, a detailed consultation is conducted with the surgeon to discuss expectations, potential risks, and the surgical plan. The entire procedure typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours, and patients are able to return home on the same day.

Recovery

After the surgery, patients may experience mild swelling and bruising. Stitches are removed after approximately 5-7 days, and normal activities can be resumed within 7-10 days. During the recovery period, it is essential to follow proper hygiene instructions, including using prescribed medical solutions to clean the eyes. Patients will receive detailed post-operative care instructions upon discharge from the clinic.
