Breast reduction

Breast reduction – A procedure that reduces the volume of the breasts.

Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty , is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to reduce the size of the breasts. It is a procedure that not only improves the appearance of the figure, but can also bring relief to patients struggling with health problems related to excessive breast volume, such as back, neck, or shoulder pain.

How is the procedure performed?

Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes 2 to 3 hours. The surgeon makes precise incisions, which are most often located around the areola, vertically and along the lower part of the breast (inverted "T" incision). During the surgery, the surgeon removes excess glandular tissue, fat and skin, and then reshapes the remaining tissue to give the breasts a natural, body-appropriate shape. After the procedure is complete, a special bra or bandage is applied to aid the healing process and stabilize the breasts.

Convalescence

After the surgery, the patient stays in the clinic for one day for observation. During the first days after the procedure, swelling, bruising and pain may occur, which disappear within a few days, and the prescribed medications should cope with it without any problems. The patient should avoid physical exertion for about 4-6 weeks. During this time, it is necessary to wear a special shaping bra, which helps the healing and stabilization of the breasts. The final effects of the procedure are visible after a few months, when the breasts reach their final size and shape.

Indications and contraindications

Breast reduction is recommended for women who:

  • They experience physical discomfort associated with large breasts, such as back, neck, or shoulder pain.

  • They want to improve the proportions of their figure and improve their mental comfort.

  • They have healthy breasts and are not planning a pregnancy in the near future (the procedure is not recommended for women who are planning a pregnancy in the near future as it may affect the shape of the breasts).

Contraindications to the procedure include:

  • Active skin infections.

  • Health problems that may affect healing (e.g. autoimmune diseases).

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Why is it worth deciding on the treatment?

Breast reduction is a procedure that improves both the quality of life and the appearance of the figure. Women who have a problem with excessive breast size often feel relief after the procedure, because pain is eliminated and the breasts become more proportional to the rest of the body. The procedure also improves self-confidence, which translates into a better quality of everyday life.

Cost of the procedure:

The cost of breast reduction is from 25,000 PLN to 30 000 PLN *
